The afternoon starts with multi-stage survivor-style contest. Here the Scoutmaster explains the rules.
Ths scouts are divided into two groups for the competition.
The two teams prepare for the first stage -- a relay to locate and return flags placed in the woods at the top a hill.
Two scouts head up the hill in search of flags.
A scout brings a flag back to the starting line.
A scout returns a flag to the starting point and and goes on to tag the next runner.
After returning all of their flags, a team works on the second stage, translating a coded message.
The group hurries to decode the message before the other group.
The other group works quickly as well. It's going to be close!
With the message decoded, a scout works to complete the final stage of the contest.
While the contest proceeds, a leader stokes the fireplace to keep the lodge toasty.
A Webelos scout continues to work on the final stage.
Both groups continue to work as the end of the competition nears.
